BFG makes a great tire in the T/A line, so you should enjoy them should you choose to go that route. I'm in a similar situation, and am looking at the Bridgestone Revo, Nitto Terra Grappler, Yoko Geolandar, and Toyo Open Country as replacements for the stock GY Wranglers.

An ideal step-up would be a 285/65R17- you get the wider footprint, and overall diameter remains virtually identical, so your gearing and speedo remains the same, without rubbing.
