The V10 bellhousing matches the Cummins, not the v8 models.
The original overdrive unit was designed for 400 ft/lbs max torque input. The same unit was used on both the A500 and A518. Only difference was the size of the coolant lines. This changed over time as Mopar made adjustments (cheaply) in an effort to improve durability. The Cummins and V10 are in a whole other ballpark in power production, so they have beefier transmissions. Matching the bellhousing to the V8 models was not a concern. It was cheaper to match the V10 to the Cummins since they'd share transmissions (other than different calibration). You could swap the guts, get an adapter, or get a matching transmission.
