Default My 4.7 is just about done...

I am sad to report that it looks like my 4.7 is on it's last legs. I bought this 2002 QC 3 yrs ago with 120K miles on it. It now has 280K miles on it and and is starting to show it's age.

It is consuming a quart of oil every 800 miles and just sucked back a gallon out my radiator since I last checked it a few weeks ago. It gives a big puff of blue when it starts in the morning as well as any time I get on the throttle after coasting for a bit.

After reading of all the problems people have had with this motor I am pleased to say that this has been a pretty solid little engine. Other than belts and hoses, the only problem it ever gave me was a $30 crank sensor.

I am going to purchase a low mileage oem engine to replace it with and then rebuild the old one as a backup and hopefully add some performance to it as well. I want to see how many miles I can put on this truck and my target is at least 500K miles.
