I have used both Nitrogen and air. I personally didn't see any difference in mileage, pressure, or tire wear. I ended up going back to air because it is free and most convenient.

My TPMS system will throw a fit when it gets in the 20's. The first couple of times I checked the tires and found that I might have had one drop to 33 and the others were at 35, or something like that. Since then, when the temp drops and the light comes on, I just ignore it. This is the first vehicle that I have had a TPMS system on and I have not been impressed with it. I wish it wasn't so sensitive. If it came on when my pressure reached 25-30psi I think would be more apt to pay attention to it.
