The only reason i say no to the porting that it would be almost impossible it seems to get all the ported areas smooth again as they are factory. Also when porting the area, the heat produced when cutting/grinding could cause the plastic to be weak. In my opinion I would go ahead and find a 6.1 intake manifold. Esp. if u plan on boosting etc later on. I would esp. be worried about the plastic intake manifold with boost on it after porting. It may drop the amount of boost the intake could withstand. good luck to ya bud!
