Default So I chose NOT to reweld the upper ball joint...

I saw a you tube video awhile back about changing ball joints on a Ram and the guy had to tack weld in the top joint since it was loose in the a-arm... I thought it was OK... nothing we hadn't done back in my stock car racing days.

Of course there are a lot of nervous people who wouldn't agree...

So today I'm trying to remove the upper joint on my '97 and I'm having a hell of a time getting it out. So I look a little closer and VOILA! the upper ball joint is welded in!!!

So I pulled the a-arm and used my smoke wrench to gently remove the tack welds and ground down the leftover welds. When I installed the new joint it seemed plenty tight so I just left it alone... no welding.

Kinda funny how things work out.
