The transfer case is picky when shifting into 4lo, every 4wd truck I have owned is! A few times while trying to shift into 4lo I have to put it in drive and let it slowly creep forward for it to engage (the manual suggests this). Now I shift into 4hi and 4lo once a month and it has never hesitated to lock in since!

Things to know about owning a 4wd...

Use it regular even when it's not needed
Lock into 4wd before you need it!!!!

PS: the neutral button should only be used if your going to tow your truck, otherwise it can only cause you grief! When you engage the neutral button your truck is in neutral regardless if the tranny is in gear/park meaning if you don't apply the brakes it will free wheel! Just use the shifter to put the truck in neutral.
