Default check gages light

I have a 2006 RAM1500 with 84K miles on it. My check gages light just came on this week and I'm trying to figure out what is causing it. Also, my truck will jerk on occasion when I am decelerating. It almost feels like it is shifting a gear kinda rough or slipping. It sonetimes happens when accelerating as well. This just started around same time check gages light went on. What are the symptoms of a timing belt going bad? Can this be the issue? Any help is appreciated.
