I put down some painter's tape on the top and bottom where the plastic meets the metal of the hood and used some plastic pry tools. If you don't have anything formal, there's always a kitchen spatchula... I put one under the bottom lip first, left it jammed in there and popped it out with another pry on the one up top. They are just molded plastic tabs that hold them into the hood. I guess you can take the heat cover off of the underside of the hood and push the tabs out that way too. That way, you don"t have to worry about chips or scraps.
