I changed my wifes shocks on her F150 with some ranchos and they were also compressed. Not hard just bolted up the bottom first then pulled the top eye into place and shoved the bolt in real quick. Just remeber to put the boot on first before you install the shocks on the truck. I made that mistake by getting in to much of a hurry.
Try not to slide the boot to far down the barrel cause it will stick and kind of fight you.
