Default Troulbes with suspension bounce

My son took my 2008 dodge ram camping yesterday. He complained to me about the truck moving on the road when he hit some bumps. I have noticed this condition before but just thought it was a truck thing. But when I hit a bad bump on the highway the truck will shake both on the back and front suspension. The whole truck wll shake and move across the road, similar to driving on a washboard. Just for a split second you will lose control of the truck. My son wasn't prepared for it and didn't think it was much fun. I know that trucks can come around on you when driving on a road that is really rough (like a dirt road with washboard conditions) but this was a paved highway. Is this condition normal or is there something wrong? I bought the truck last October and I am new to the truck scene.
