i use 5-30 except for the summer season and i use 10-30 and change every 3K miles. i had exchanged emails last july b4 i bought and this is what a chrysler engineer told me, take it for what its worth>

The new models have an oil change indicator that will give change intervals. The ECU arrives at this mileage based on several inputs, miles, engine usage history, etc. Depending on how the vehicle is used, Iíve seen them wait for up to 8,000 miles before calling for an oil change. You can decide for yourself, but I would be a little more frequent then that. Also, I believe the new models call for 5W20 or 5W30 oil. Iíd use something a little heavier in the 5.7, like 10W30.

Iím an engineer in the dynamometer laboratory, testing these engines. They accumulate millions of miles and thousands of hours. We do things to them the average owner wouldnít even think of, much less actually do. Take it from me, they can hold their own with anything and are better than most.

Enjoy your truck.
