Default Exhaust Question

I know of one other individual that has done a full dual exhaust from the cats back on his 09 Ram, I can't find anyone on this forum, might not be looking hard enough. So far my friend has had nothing but good things to say about it, he even says that his mpg really did not change. So I check out a Mida nearby my home that does most mechanical that I can't do for me, and recommended against it, he suggested it was a waste of money and having already a 3 inch pipe coming to a high flow muffler like I have now and how the rear is all I would need.

Has anyone done this and do they really notice any difference. For a nearby mechanic to reject the work and recommend against it has really got me thinking. Currently I swapped the stock muffler out and replace it with a Thrush Welded muffler, sound great and flows better, but if full dual can't hurt and give better performance then why not? Right?
