The only big difference I can think of is the fact that there is more of a power loss with the Auto than in a manual as you stated. I'd imagine that it being new the truck will get a bit better with some age though, and if you lined both of those but on a 1/4 the newer model would reign as the champion. You also have to add in things like the way the body absorbs more of the "feel" of the truck than older models, Cummins still makes one hell of a motor and it will haul more than you've ever hauled before with ease
