Sounds like torque converter drainback. Dodge instituted the anti-drainback checkball to prevent that, another bad idea. Eventually it corrodes and gets stuck. Stuck open means no drainback control. Stuck shut means a fried transmission. Standard fare is to replace the valve. My preference is to eliminate the valve and have a proper aftermarket valve body kit (Sonnax, TransGo, Fairbanks) installed. Not only will it control drainback, but will improve lube and overall function. In the meantime, on cold starts, shift to neutral for a couple seconds, then to forward or reverse and proceed. The time in neutral will allow the converter to charge and respond normally.
