Where exactly did you place the foam? Under the plexiglass cover? If so, your best bet would be to get some window/door insulation strips from your local hardware for a couple of dollars. They come in black and various widths and theyre flexible enouh to follow the box's curvature; this method won't be as obvious as a complete foam cover hiding the filter from view.
I don't have the vibration issue you speak of and haven't read that anyone else here has either, so I'm assuming its a user error [instalatiom] or defective part.
I'll post a number and name in the morning at S&B Filters for you to call and try and rectify your issue. You shouldn't have to resort to the methods outlined for a vibration that shouldn't be there..... and judging by your actions, it's darn loud and obnoxious.
