Default Bogging at shift

Howdy, I'm new to this site and not quite sure how to navigate. I got a 1998 Ram 1500 4x4 318 5 sp, 142000 mi. On occasion when shifting gears it will bog down and sometimes pop then after revving it the thing will be fine. Happens warm or cold no set speed or distance traveled. Idles fine. Any reading I have done seems to point to the TPS sensor as it seems to happen when I let off the gas to shift and the throttle plate changes position. Haven't slapped a code reader on yet. Seen several other posts that suggest a vacuam leak. How do I teel the differance? If TPS how do I align the end of throttle shaft and socket in new sensor? I'm not exactly a too sharp on anything PCM controlled so Please give out some simple advice. Thanks folks. Mark
