i would say your lifter tap is from lack of oil pressure. the lifters are hydraulic and they have to have pressure to keep filled up. i've seen this before but you very possibly could have sludge in the pan. and its clogging up the sending unit. if you drive it too much like that you will be looking at a bearing problem for sure. and remember anytime you do have a bad bearing it could cause loss of oil pressure so definantly drop the pan it will reveal the problem
