I have a 2011 4x4 with 265/65/17 wheels and tires. A friend has a set of 225/60/18 5 lug chrome wheels and new tires for sale. They came off a 2006 model. My questions is will they fit my 2011 and is 450.00 a good price. Thanks in advance for your response

Buying these tires/wheels

Just some thoughts:
a. The overall tire diameter would be approximately the same since they
are a lower aspect ratio than yours. Also this may create a tiny speedo
error.
b. 60's will ride a bit rougher than 65's will since there is less cushion
effect.
c. Friend's tires are 1.57 inches less wide than yours. Would you be
satisfied with skinny tire look?
d. Unless your friend just can't use them anymore, I'd have to ask myself
why does he want to get rid of them.
e. Unless you were planning to buy new tires anyway, and/or just like the
wheels, why do this at all?
f. I would want tires with the same load carrying capacity, have you
compared this information with what's on both sidewalls? I would
suspect that your truck's recommended inflation pressure is not going
to be the same if you change out.
g. Good price?,...it depends on what kind of tires you'd be buying such as
expected tire mileage, temperature and traction ratings, road noise,
etc. Also are they of similar quality or a grade lower?
h. It has always been my opinion that the factory engineers who spec'd
out a new vehicle know what is the best combination for fitment and
performance.
I. Just me, but I'd re-examine my reasons for considering this
purchase,..is it a real need?, just like the idea of bigger wheels?,
remember too that you would be stuck with buying this tire size in the
future. Again, just my personal recommendation, I'd rather see you
bank the money and purchase the correct tire size and quality when
you need replacement.

By the way, I worked at Michelin Tire for 28 years, so I will claim to posses some small knowledge of tires, performance and fitment. I presume that you have confirmed bolt patterns, wheel offset and runout. Please make your choice based on the above mentioned factors. And finally, if I may suggest so, don't do it.
