Anyone thought of changing the PCM, that way you can run any program you like and no matter what happens to the engine, you just swap the original PCM back in place and no one is wiser. Dodge will have no idea you had a wild tune if you choose to do so because all the fault codes originate in the PCM. I've seen the at used auto parts stores between $100 - $200 for a 2011 used unit. A little assurance against the giant.
Is this PCM the same thing as the CTM on the older Ram; my Ram is a 2000? The CTM controls all kind of things like the door locks, anti-theft, dash lights, seats, and so on. I'm told that the older CTM's had problems with some radio frequencies. Well mine sure has troubles and the truck will not start. I'm afraid to buy a new one at $372.00 just to find that I have the same problems. So is there a replacement unit that will work without being troubled by these radio frequencies?
The CTM Central Timing Module is under the dash, has nothing to do with the engine. Thinking of the powertrain control Unit or main computer. It's in the engine compartment and controls all the engine functions. If you load an aftermarket program like Bully dog or Diablo ect. and blow up the engine or do some damage, you just put your original PCM back in and no one will no you had a program in it. The Dealer or factory could never tell you had an after market programmer. It's an easy swap. see them used online for a couple hundred bucks. Maybe good insurance but never tried it on a Ram. Anyone have any experience with this swap?
