Ok, well an 8 hour all out exterior detailing. Started at 9:30 and ended around 5ish. Needless to say I'm very tired, a little sore and extremely proud! This has been the first time I've been able to get out and do anything outside since last October. So it's been a long time since I've done any type of cleaing of my truck. First I started in the engine bay, lightly sprayed everything down with water to get the loose dirt off, then I sprayed everything down with an engine degreaser and let it stand for about 30 min while I moved on to tires, wheels, and wheel well. Scrubed the tires, wheels, behind the wheels and the wheel well. Dressed the tires and wheels with shiny stuff. Went back to the engine bay and very lightly hosed everything down and scrubbed the stubborn stuff off. Started the engine to get any standing water gone. Next I moved to washing the truck with my brush, just to get the loose stuff off. Then I re-washed with my microfiber mitt. As windy as it was (still is) here I didn't have a chance to really dry it, but that didn't matter much as my next step was clay baring. For those of you that havn't clay bared your truck, you really should give it a go! You won't believe the difference it makes, however get ready to spend some time on it, it's not a fast task. There was a lot of gunk and tar splatters and some sort of speckled crap all over the bottom third of the truck and this stuff took it right off! Works on paint, chrome, plastic and glass! Next I went to a paint polish conditioner. It's basically a liquid polish, but it helps condition the paint with any minor scratch's and swirls. After I made it all the way around the truck I went back around it with a clean microfiber towel just in case I missed any polish. Then it was on to the carnuba wax. I have to keep remembering to wet my applicator with just a little water as this wax goes on so much easier with a damp applicator. Once again after I went around the truck I again took another clean microfiber towel and did a final wipe down. Lastly were the windows, inside and out then I applied Rain-X to the windshield. Tomorrow I will tackle the interior. I have some pretty nice stains (as mentioned in an earlier post) that I need to tackle. At least the interior isn't as big as the exterior! LOL, and I have a rug doctor to help out. I'll get some pictures posted as soon as I find a good back drop. Even though this was an all day task, it was very thereputic for me. For some reason cleaning my truck just relaxes me. Going forward, my sequential cleanings shouldn't take this long. The first one is always the longest, and hardest. It was a long, COLD and SNOWY winter. My baby needed a lot of TLC. Talk to you guys later!
