I have the power lock tailgate. So IN THEORY all I need is the wiring harness, this camera, and bring it to the dealer to flash. Or is that wishful thinking? All opinions asked for. Thanks.
Unless something has changed I was told that you can add the camera but it won't show up on the radio screen unless it came from the factory that way. They told me they would have to install a new rear view mirror with a video monitor in it.
I think as of March it has. No dealers had info on these cameras because of parts restrictions. So when they looked them up on their systems nothing came up because they weren't available as buy alone parts. Also, it is easier if you have the power locking tailgate since the power harness is already there.
I could be wrong and if anyone has more info on this chime in please.
That's good news. I ordered the backup cam but I would have hated having the video coming from my rear view mirror like on the f150s. It's just to small of a screen.
When I bough mine in feb I ended up test driving one then found out about them only being able to add the camera in the mirror. I ended up walking the lot till I found one I liked with the camera. It was going to cost me more to have them add it than it cost on the truck. I ended up taking parking sensors and trailer brake since it was the only one that was in a color I wanted. I don't know why they made adding a camera such I pita should have been install, flash and work
