I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD short bed with a 3.9 V6 automatic. Overall the truck has been fine. The other day a backed it out of a parking space, drove down the driveway and turned into the street. As soon as it shifted and kicked into neutral. All I have now is reverse and park. The linkage is fine. 2 months ago I replaced the trans pan, gasket, filter and fluid, all with genuine Mopar parts and fluid. The fuild and the level are fine. Can someone please help? I have no idea where to start.
I don't have an answer for you but I am sure there are others here that would! I just wanted to welcome you to the board and suggest you introduce yourself here so we can all welcome you!
Hello and welcome to the site. Your trans. trouble sorry to say, sound serious. I'd have a professional check it out. Bite the bullet and hack up the diagnostic fee. It sounds like it blew an internal seal, ir cracked a piston. Which calls for an overhaul. But, I'd Have the line pressures read to make sure before you commit to replacing, or overhauling it.
