Does anyone have these mirrors on a Dodge Ram 1500 with heated mirrors or lights on the mirrors:

When I bought our trailer these were not available, and so I bought the Reese clip-ons, which although better than nothing are not really up to the job. I seen these on a Laramie which I know had heated mirrors and lights, but the information states they will not fit. Just wondered if anyone with a RAM had bought them and how they fitted.

Cheers

I thought about them but decided against getting the Cipa, because as you noted, the website indicates they will not fit mirrors that are heated and have lights. It is interesting you saw them on a Laramie, I wonder if they do fit, but block the turn signals and puddle lights. If they do not work for you you might try looking at the McKesh tow mirrors, they are excellent. I used them on my previous vehicle and now use them on my Ram.

I know what you are saying, but I thought the CIPA mirrors would be on and off quickly and run less risk of damaging anything on the truck. Next time I see someone with them on I am going to ask them to try them on my truck as it will be next summer before I am towing our TT again. I was even thinking of machining out a hole where the puddle light was so that it would still be visible. I was at the dealer the other day and there is a noticeable difference in the non puddle light mirrors.

For having to do all of that and the fact that you do tow a lot why not just hunt around for a set of OEM tow mirrors?

You can get a set of aftermarket, non chrome, heated/power/puddle/turn for a fair price and be done with the mirror game. They are a direct plug and play swap with nothing else required.

Here is one mirror I found for not to bad of a price.

That would be the easy option, I just like the stock mirrors I have and prefer the look to the black tow mirrors and was looking for an easy option. I know you are right and will probably break down and buy the tow mirrors. Just exploring options I guess.

I bought a set of tow mirrors for my 2012 Sport off EBay. Under $300 and plug and play with puddle lamp, turn signal, heat and power adjusting. It shows they wouldn't fit a 1500 , but any mirror off of a fourth generation 3/4 ton or 1 ton will fit the fourth gen 1/2 ton. The mirrors I bought were for a 2012-2013 3/4 ton. Work beautifully!!! Just remember the HD trucks are a year behind, unlike 1/2 ton in 2009+ being fourth gen, a 2010+ HD truck is fourth gen.
