Default Tow Hitch?

I have a 2011 Ram 2500 HO Cummins Auto (CCSB) and I'm looking at towing about 7500lbs (boat). I'm not sure what type of tow hitch to get that would work for what I'll be towing. Also I am not sure how much of a drop I should get? 2" or 3 1/4" (for stock ride height)? This is all new to me so sorry in advance. I live in a small town so the only thing I really have to choose from locally is Reese. Thanks

I'm guessing your truck came with a receiver from the factory. If so the factory hitch is completely fine for that load. If not Reese is good or order a new factory hitch as your bumper bolts to it and it will probably yield the best fit. As for a drop hitch you need to hook up the trailer loaded to the truck and then check the level. Only at that point will you know what kind of drop you need to keep your trailer level. For best towing the trailer frame should be as level a possible but a little slant up dousnt hurt especially when you load up the bed or trailer more.

if you don't have the factory hitch, i would get a hitch rated for the heaviest weight your truck can tow. class 4 maybe. you need to check the weight loads. if you are going tuse after market, i like drawtight.
