Default Keyless entry only works 1-2 ft from truck

Hello everyone! This is my first post.

Not just my first post, but my first week with my first Ram!

Needless to say, very excited, but I have two problems with the keyless entry and cannot find resolution on any sites.

1) The remote will only work within 1-2 feet from the truck. I have replaced the batteries twice trying to figure out the problem. I can lock and unlock the doors, but I have to be right at the truck for it to work.

2) The keyfob has the remote start button. When I press the button twice, the flashers blink twice, but the engine does not start. There are no codes, the hood is secure, and the doors are locked.

I have a 2007 Ram 1500 Quad Cab

Any suggestions will be great at this point.

Thanks!

Check the DATE on the batteries. The batteries can go bad in the packaging from sitting on the shelf for 3 or 4 years. My mothers garage door opener batteries went dead. I opened a brand new box and replaced them. Still did not work. I checked the date on the batteries and they where 3 years old sitting in the box on the work bench in our garage. I went to the store and got a fresh box and everything works fine now. Those little watch style batteries do not have a lot of power inside of them.

Check the date and if not the date then turn to Ebay for a new KeyFOB

The batteries are definitely good. I put a meter on them and I get 3V even. Before I turn to Ebay for a new keyfob, I really want to isolate the problem to the keyfobs. Could it be something on the receiving end inside the truck?

Borrow a friends Key Fob. Program it for your truck. that will tell you if its key fob or car. Once your done Give keyfob back to your friend and reprogram it back for his car. order key Fob on ebay.
