I looked and looked for something about t-case's and couldn't find anything but the offroad section, so I posting here.
So I have an 08' 2500 with a HEMI and about two months ago after a bit of a very rough off road drive through a frozen swamp (39 miles round trip), it developed a noise... Usually a single pop/clunk/click/pinging noise. ONLY does it in 4x4, high or low and only under load. i.e. full crank or jumping on the gas hard from a stop. I chalked it up as me stretching the the chain in the T-case.
A few days after that I bought an 06' Mega Cab with a 5.9 Cummins. So I don't really drive it much anymore and it got put on the back burner. Well, tonight Crazy Larry and I were having some fun and wouldn't you know.....POP/CLUNK/PING!!!! you've got to be fawking kidding me.... Same noise, does it at the same points and everything. So I just spent the last few hours reading. And there seems to be an issue with the "snap ring". My confusion after reading up on it is... my noise only happens when engaged in 4x4. From what I could find reading, if it was the snap ring, it would make the noise in 2wd also. Is this correct?
Build sheet on my Mega for those of you wondering...

I think it's safe to say that I like it! lol. After my move in April it'll be getting a 5" Zone kit and 37-38's. I've been so busy I don't even have a pic of it! Sorry folks, any free time I've had has gone into tweaking on this thing.
