Default Need real 1/4 miles times and experience with rt trucks..having some weird things happening .

Ok. Most everyone knows my truck is a single cab express. Well sd22 on here has a 2012 rt mods are k&n , magnaflow catback, and diablo tune. My truck has vararam , 180stat, flow master muffler and 3.55s . We have a buddy with a 2011 5.0 f150 with boss intake manifold, long tubes and a custom tune and 3.73s..good for at least high 13s. Well we all raced Saturday night. First race the rt truck and the f150. Dead even out the hole till about 60-70 the 5.0 pulls on the rt. kinda what we expected mod for mod the 5.0 should be faster. Now here's the kicker . I raced him about 20 minutes later from a dig . He agreed to give me te break. I babied it out the hole (one wheel peel) we stayed dead even until abt 75-80 and he started pullin then I hit 2nd prime and pulled back to his door then hit the 105 limiter. How is this possible? We're still puzzled about how a pretty stock ram express with stock tune runs this good. So next day we go to te track my best run of the day was only a 14.4 . Last week was a 14.2 . The rt truck was a 14.2 Sunday . His 1/8th mile was nearly .5s better than mine but still only ran .2 better times. He was pulling 2.0 60ft to my 2.1s . We don't know what is going on. Are my 3.55s actually helping me?? I drove his truck one pass exactly how I run mine. Pulled a 2.0 60ft and ran 14.5. The truck didn't have long to cool but neither did mine and I ran a 14.4. It's just really strange.

To add the only thing that I noticed was I am picking up spark knock running the 93 octane can tune... But it was on the 87 octane tune when we raced the F150...

my express pulls hard on the big end to. when i had just a 180 t stat slip in k&n and opened exahust it ran a 2.10 60ft and went 13.97@100mph in 55* wheather. now i have a b&g tune custom y pipe and 555r drag r and when i run my buddy's 04 chevy truck with a fullly bolted & cammed 6.0 if he spins a little i can out run him. he catches me bout the time i go to second prime, soon as i hit it i stop him. now in his defence at the track we go to he runs 10.87 in 1000ft and i run 11.39.

Its the rts 4.10 gears on the topend. Thats why your still runningwith the 5.0. The rt has a crappier topend. If he had your gears he would of done better against him.

When he shifts to 4th 1:1 he's falling out of his power range. With you're 3.55's you're at the top of 3rd/2nd prime right were the engine is starting to make good power. Just think of the power to the wheels a lets say 85 mph if the R/T is in 4th or you're in 3rd. 3rd 1.5:1 ratio X 3.55 gives you a ratio of 5.38:1, this would put your rpm at about 4800 where he would be at about 3700 rpm fitting all that wind drag.

I'd love to see a 3.55 geared Express or one of them Dead sexy Tradesman with a tune and a torque converter only. My guess is the thing would fly for the amount invested.

Do you go through the traps in 3rd/2nd prime? Be nice to avoid having to shift into 4th 1:1.

I have srt22 with 305/40 tires witch drop my gear ratio a little. I cross the trap in 2nd prime and is perfect for the 1/4 so idk how it would do with 17s and wen smaller tires . I just want to avoid shifting into 3rd if it is goin to kill my rpms. But for now the setup works perfect but with a tune an stall there's no way ill still hook
