This is really cool but why not the 4bt?? People have put the 4bt in 1500's and got near 30 mpg with the same torque of the hemi. Maybe it is a little bit under powered but stick with the cummins name that got dodge diesels the reputation they have now

Gotta give credit where credit is due, but it won't be as you would assume.

The V-6 eclipses the 4bt in design technology. Almost like a Formula 1 engine compared to a Freightliner.

Smaller footprint, happy to rev,,, "Apples and oranges', so to speak.

You can fit a 4bt in a RAM, but how about putting it in a JGC, or something even smaller?

Why bother with adding yet another engine model to the line-up if you can cross-utilize what you have in multiple offerings?

As the manufacturer of the V-6 is partially owned by {~~~Dodge~~~}, and Cummins is not,,,, score yet another advantage to using the V-6.

The 4bt has its place, and 'brand recognition' is "nice", but this V-6 is so much more on many different levels.

HoustonHemi- thats a good way to put it I'm just a big cummins fan! I'm pumped to see this new engine and hope she goes over well! I think we've all been waiting on diesel 1500's for a while now

The fact that the fuel systems school isn't until April and the repair class isn't even scheduled yet makes me think it will be a while before you'll see one at a dealership.

I got rid of my diesel last week. A 2010 CTD. $55 fuel filters, DPF fluid, crank case vent filters, $4.00 fuel and it costs a small fortune to repair. Not to mention performance wise stock is not all that impressive. I have a had 5 CTD. If you really have no need for a diesel (heavy towing) it is really a waste of money.

I'm finally back in a gasser and loving it. No more oil field hot shot for me.
