Probably because there's more weight in the front, you run 45 psi in the rears when empty the tire may be over inflated and wear the tread unevenly in the center.

I just put a set of Open Country AT 2's on my '08 10 days ago. The tread width is 9", 10.5" shoulder width.

These tires are great so far. I live in Colorado, went skiing last week and got caught up in some mountain snow. Fantastic performance. Having grown up in snow all my life (grew up in Maine) I understand the feel of different tires, these are great.

Toyo has a 65000 mile warranty even on the 20" wheels. I got mine for ~$197 per tire, all four out the door mounted and balanced out the door at $925. I am very happy with the results and the price is fantastic for a good semi aggressive AT.

The warranty is the biggest selling feature for the tires. Not sure if any one offers this
