Wow....what a great thread! Thanks Grub! I don't normally read through these long threads but this one I read top to bottom. A lot of great info here. I was seriously thinking about getting the Volant but have now decided on the S/B.

I will say this though: a forum member claims he is working with S&B Intakes' technical department designing a "new & improved" Scoop for our trucks, so that may be worth the wait. I have no reason to doubt his claims, but....

I'm calling my contact at S&B Intakes tomorrow to find out it's authenticity and, if so, an ETA on its release.

I'll post an update tomorrow.
For those interested -

I spoke with S&B Filters' head tech this afternoon [awesome guy!]. The forum member who claimed to be working with their technical department is kind of right; though it's not a direct correlation between the two parties

The product he's working with is a Scoop S&B Filters sent him for his 3rd Gen Ram 1500 and NOT the 4th Gen Ram 1500, like I thought. This member was sent a Scoop in the hope of modifying it to fit his truck by removal of the lower valance among others. He was after THIS type of Ram Air Scoop finish as opposed to just the drop type we currently have available. His success will obviously depend on many factors as to whether it sees the light-o-day.

Tech also told me that they DO have plans for a Ram Air type of Scoop for the 4th Gen Ram 1500's but nothing was definitive as yet. The issue? Our 4th Gen Ram 1500's are a little too nose-deep in the front end [OEM] and S&B Filters are afraid of bottoming-out.

They are hoping for a 2013 release as intrest has been apparent but, again, nothing is cemented.

Hope this helped.

Been busy and never got around to calling them. Will try tomorrow are next week.

BTW The after market coupler I got was slightly to big diameter wise. I would say its going to be hard to find the right size one since its a oval shaped tube.

See my sig for my exhaust choice.
YEP. have been giving Craig some pics and measurements. also some data with IAT and MAP pressure. Have also told him about modifying upper scoop, dont like the fact its facing towards fender. told him i could modify with fiberglass and hope for a change, i think so far their concern is a frt facing scoop. well my mpg's did improve some.

What is your profession?

Is this just a hobby for you or this this in line with your profession?

Just curious.....

Also, have you snapped any pictures of your endeavours thus far?
