Default Steering extension needed??

I'm installing a 2" body lift this weekend and I have individually purchased all the components except for a the steering extension, does anyone know if I will need one or if I can get by without it?

WOW! Why not just purchase a built kit? At 2" I would think you would want one. My 3" kit has one, but the 1.25" body lift dont. Kinda of a grey area ehhh

Yeah I'm not sure, guess ill go crawl up under it and see if i can decide or not. I didnt really want a 3inch lift and I couldnt find a 2" lift. Plus so far Ive purchased all the components for under 100$. Steering extension is 120$ so thats why I was trying to avoid buying it if its wasnt necessary

Fair enough. I will tell you this. On my 2011 I couldnt get the steering to seperate so I went ahead and lifted the body and did the steering last. So it is long enough....but the question is: is it long enough to be safe. Once I did get it seperated I couldnt get the entension in bc the column wouldnt collapse. I also couldnt get the coloum back on the rack and pinion with the extension bc it was .25" shy to getting to the bolt hole!

Not sure what to tell you, but that's what I've seen first hand. Hope it helps...

Thanks for the tip, thats what im worried about, I think it will be long enough, but long enough to be safe is the question. I will probably go ahead and order it, $120 is a whole lot cheaper than hospital bills and a new truck if it was to seperate going down the road.

fellas im running into the same problem with a 3" body lift. it took a lil work to get it separated but i did. now the steering extension piece wont fit on the steering shaft. it has room to collapse and extend but i just cant get the extension on the steering shaft. i tried opening it up a little with a chisel, grinding and tapping it in place. im almost out of ideas. im wondering how much play i have in the steering , if i even need the extension piece. any help or ideas to get the piece on would be appreciated.
