what octane fuel is a 96 ram 5.9 suppose to take cause im using 87 n it seems to go away to quick and any tips to get better mpg

Does it say in your owners manual? I know the HEMIs recommend 89 but say you CAN run 87. You were also posting about offroad tires/wheels. That's not gonna help MPG at all! Best thing to do is stay out of the trottle. Make sure you're air filter and all is clean and just everything under the hood is properly maintained and not old. I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions. These trucks aren't good on gas to begin with

Yes the manual should tell you, but if you are running 87 and are not hearing any pinging, particularly on hard acceleration, you should be fine.

Best thing for mpg? Keep your foot out of it. I have takin off my 35"s put on a electric fan intake exhaust tune up and a tune....I get 12 mpg on a good day. As for octane, 87 is what I use and its never givin me trouble
