Default Wheel size and tire choice: opinions?

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some opinions on what wheel width and what tires to go with.

The wheels I want are Fuel Hostage Chrome. Now the question is, do I want to go 20x10's or stick with 20x9's? My reason for thinking about 20x10's is I like the look of a deeper wheel. But now I'm thinking that going with a 20x9 might save a little bit of weight which will might help keep my fuel mileage a little better (I realize it's going way down with the bigger tires). I'm also thinking that a 12.5" wide tire might look a little better on a 9" wide rim rather than a 10".

As far as tires go I'm a little more uncertain. Originally I was going to go with a mud tire, mainly for the looks. But with the amount of highway driving I do I'm thinking an A/T tire might be a better option. I do off road a little bit, but not in anything that would require a full on mud tire. My top choice for A/T tire is the Toyo Open Country A/T's and my choice for a mud tire would probably be Federal Couragia M/T's because they're a lot cheaper. But I'm open to any opinions that you guys have of any of the options.

Any experience you guys have with mileage on any of the tires is also appreciated. Along with pictures that any one has with any of these set ups including one of how far they stick out.

I am thinking about putting a 6" lift on the truck eventually too so I want the tires to look proper then too.

Attaches are the pictures of the wheels and one of my truck. I do have a 2.5" leveling kit and 0.75" rear coil spacers.

I've had the general grabber at2s and the nitto terra grapplers. I haven't rotated my nittos in like 15,000 miles and there is no hum or cupping. Very quiet tire on the highway.

If you are looking at doing a 6" lift, then definitely go with the 20x10 option with the -12 offset or -24 offset.
But sounds to me you like the lip, but not so much the 'stick out'
So go with the -12 offset.

Do this especially if you plan on adding Bilstiens for added height.
Buy it right the first time and you wont regret it.

As for tires.....it will help if you can narrow down to an MT or AT.

Toyo Mt's are by far the quietest and probably one of the longer lasting rubber. So although it cost more, the long run will benefit you greatly.
As for AT tires....the 325/60/20 size is perfect as its a slightly oversized 35"
This is what I am running for winter....have a look at my build to see how they look.
Quite beefy as it balloons more on the sidewall

Tough choice on the tires. But definitely go with the 20x10 option especially since you will be lifting.

Ya, the more I think about it 20x10's will definitely be worth it. As far as the offset goes I'm not totally sure what I'm going to do. Cause this is my plan... run them as long as I can without flares. Once a cop stops me (which is guaranteed to happen in my town) then I'll order some up. I'm leaning toward the Bushwacker pocket style flares cause of how beefy they look. But because they're a 2.5" flare I want to make sure my wheel/tire combo will look right with that too. That's what's make me lean towards a -24 offset. What are the specs for your winter rims?

So you're saying the Toyo MT's are going to be even quieter than the Toyo AT's or the Terra Graps? If they are quieter and last that much longer I definitely wouldn't mind spending the money to get them because in my opinion they are the nicest looking tire.

If you are planning to run pocket flares then you definitely want to grab the -24 as they will sit flush with the flares.

Im running the Nitto Terra in 325/60/20
My summers are 37" Toyo MT

The AT's are definitely silent compared to the MT's but its not to say the Toyo's are loud, they have a slight hum. I believe they are slightly quieter than the Trail Grapplers which I have ran as well.

Bump back up to the top

Any comments you guys have are appreciated. I'm open to other suggestions for tires too.

If anyone has run a set of these tires could you chime in on how many miles they lasted you?

Sounds like an AT would be the better choice for you. The Toyo and Nitto are basically the same tire, so I'd base that decision on price and preference in looks (Toyo is currently selling the Open Country AT II which has a more aggressive sidewall).

I have -12 offset. Love it. I would've gone with -24 20x12 but there was no way I could fit them with my lift and 37s... I have pics in my build thread. I love my look and you'll be happy with -12.

The only MT I would go with is a Toyo MT because it'll get you some decent mileage. I got 35k on the 2500 Cummins and that was with poor rotation. I am expecting 40 out of the set I have now. But other than that go AT.
I personally don't like AT on big lifted trucks but that is just me. I think you'll regret it. I do a lot of highway driving so I went with Toyo MT and they have always lasted me. Other MTs can barely seem to get half what my Toyos get.

Good luck and if you have any questions let us know.

Thanks Ram725! Love the look of your truck! I think my next one will definitely have to be that colour.

The only question I have is if you have a picture looking down the side of your truck to show how far they stick out. But I'll check out your build thread cause I'm assuming I'll find them there.
