Default Coolant Question

I check my fluids every week and I am baffled by the coolant reservoir. It has a long white dipstick to help determine level and I can clearly see the Max and Min lines but my dispstick looks stained from the coolant so it's hard to tell how much fluid I have in there. I tried wipping it with a cloth with no success any tips on how to remove the stain so I can tell how much fluid I have in there with more ease?

Also I dont have the owner manual, P-O never gave it with the truck so I have no idea as to what coolant type to use if I was low.

Here's a link to download an owners manual:

http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/owners/manuals/

I don't think I've ever gone through the one that came with my truck. It's a lot easier for me to just look at the one I downloaded.
