Hi Grub,
Great job and thank you for reinforcing what my feelings are on these S&B CAI's. I just purchased a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Quad Cab and I've been researching all the accessories I'd like to put on it. I've so far purchased what I consider the best products for there intended purposes on my truck after a few weeks of review. I've purchased a Bed Rug bed liner so I can park under a tree this summer and have a snooze in it anytime I want.....I've purchased a Bak Industries Roll-X tonneau which I can completely open in a few seconds and with the interlocking aluminum bar design will also hold up to 400 lbs....incredibly well engineered product. I'd never heard of S&B Cold Air Intakes before, but as soon as I saw the photo's of it I consider it the best made sharpest looking CAI by a country mile. It will make a fabulous addition to
a gorgeous Hemi engine compartment.

What I would like to ask you is have you found anybody selling it for a better price than the $299.00 w/Free Shipping that everybody seems to be charging. While I find it a little expensive, it looks so much better than the competition, it seems worth the extra. Did I really say that....out loud...haha
Thanks Grub

$299 plus shipping seems to be the average price. It's middle of the road pricing for intakes. I don't know anyone selling it cheaper but its always worth looking. S&B is definitely a good intake. You'll love it!

Ram725 answered it for me.

I really don't know of anyone who's offering any discounts or the sorts. In fact, S&B Filters are VERY strict with ANY of the products being offered by online vendors who attach any types of discounts or coupons to them; so if you do find one that's discounted, it certainly isn't approved by S&B Filters.

Read: if you find one discounted, jump on it!

Congratulations on your consideration. If you pull the plug, you'll be very happy like all of us here who own one.

Well, almost everyone.....

Thanks Ram725 and Grubrunner,
Greatly appreciated.....Just wanted to double check with you, B4 I pull the trigger, it was the oiled filter, the cleanable one you suggested....not the dry filter....right.

Just remembered, I've got a Hypertech Interceptor #705003 for the 2013 model. Apparently the 2013 has different connectors than earlier model. I'd like to do a few runs 0-60 mph bone stock and after then with the CAI and then with the CAI & Chip.
I'd like to do a progression as I add equipment....like CAI, Chip, Exhaust just to see
how it all works together. I'll probably also add the rear air bags from Total Load Control at some point this spring or summer and see if that improves the launches
with the added traction it should provide.....should be fun.

Just a tip from my motorcycle riding hobby....I ride a Honda CBR 1000 RR with a double bubble wind screen on it and I use a plastic cleaning product called Plexus to clean my helmet visor and the windscreen on the bike and they both look like they just came out of the box ....brand new...no marks perfectly clear...not even swirl marks, it works amazingly well. I even clean my motorcycle with it to get the bugs off before every ride. Will keep the S&B window looking like brand new, if you use it regularly with a clean microfiber cloth.

Happy Motoring....EZ

Ya grub prefers oiled. So I'd go that route. I'll be running an oiled in a few weeks to compare it with my dry

For s&b go oil filter the dry one is cheaply made. The only dry filter I find good is Airaid syntamax I have an s&b oil cai and a Airaid they both have their perks.

Thanks for a great write up Grub. Mine arrived at noon today and was in by 2:00. Didn't get the scoop installed because I needed to be at the rink for practice. Hope to get it in before hockey tomorrow.

Instructions were super easy to follow and the unit looks great and sounds great.

Cheers.

Hey hemi-it-in.. Where in Ontario are you from?

And still loving my S&B... I have actually noticed a nice increase in fuel mileage.. even with the cold weather.

I just posted this in another thread but thought I would chime in here about the mileage gains. I just installed the S&B intake and the SC 3865 91 Perf tune. Round trip into town is around 130km. I usually averaged 14.5 to 14.8 L/100km. Yesterday I drove to town and averaged 13.4 to 13.6. And this was with the cruise control set at 120km/h. I am sure its the combination of both the intake and tuner but there is definitely a mileage gain there.

Talking

Pulled the trigger and bought my S&B filter the other day and installed it tonight. Besides having issues removing the push pin holding the wheel liner and pulling out the temp sensor, installation was not that bad; the air box just fell right into place nicely.

Took my truck out for a test drive and right away I notice how responsive and punchy the throttle was. But I'm not getting that throaty growl, that most of you are talking about. Oh well... no big deal, I feel that will change once I put a new exhaust on. But the big surprise to me was what the mpg gauge was reading. Came home with a 14.2 mpg reading, then after the install it read 15.9 mpg. I'll take that over the throaty growl.

Grubrunner; they also changed the location of there logo on the clear cover. The logo is right on the center of the cover.
