I had a trade but I owed more than it was worth. So I didn't count that. But basically I owed 40 on my car and got 25 for it so the 15 went back on. But oh well

Mind me asking what the number was prior to trade-in? I'm pricing out a similar 2500.

I tried sending you a PM, but I don't have enough posts yet. They offered $4700 for the Kia, so the deal was then at $34,975. I said we'd do it at $32,000 and they accepted immediately. I guess I could have asked a lower price from the start, but I thought they were going to shoot down the $32,000. The big issue for us also, was the fact they are giving us the current rebates/incentives even if they go down prior to us taking possession. They will give us more rebate cash if the deals improve.

Great deal - especially if the rebates improve. Unfortunately for me the rebates for the 2500 stink. I'm trading in a 99 Mustang GT 35th Limited so I'm not expecting much for the trade-in. I thought about doing a private sale but that's just a huge hassle.

Thanks for the info.

No problem, Chromag. Glad I could be of assistance. I hope you land a good deal with the 2500 you're looking for. I completely understand about trying to privately sell your current vehicle. Sounds like a pain in the rear to me, too. Good luck!

In a nut shell:
16.12% under MSRP (trade-in independent)
11.21% under Invoice (trade-in independent)
2.49% APR over 60 months

Details:
Trade-in independent pricing is made by prior to truck shopping determining how much your truck is worth and what would be a "fair and reasonable" value for your old vehicle...from the stand point of me the owner as well as the dealer. Use kelly blue book, edmunds, past auction history to help determine this. Dont necessarily look at private party selling for traiding in...look at trade in value. Keep in minthe dealer will have risk. I looked at kbb and edmunds tradein value and took the higher of the two and added an extra $100 because of extras not put in as oem options. This is the VALUE I WANT FOR MY TRADE IN AND I FEEL ITS FAIR PRICE FOR ME AND DEALER. This must be known and set in stone prior to shopping. Dealer will give you much better number then what you deem fair. To make the purchase trade-in independent you need to reduce the amount the dealer would give you on trade-in by his excess...consider the excess "dealer discounts". For example, I was content getting $11, 500 for my trade-in, dealer gave me $14, 050...so that turns into equivalent view point that I'm getting what I want for my trade-in $11, 500 and I've obtained $3050 in "dealer discounts".
Now I also obtained $3750 in advertized manufacturer rebates (current manufacturer rebates/incentives are fixed and can be found on dodge web site, edmunds, etc).
So....
MSRP of base SLT, options, and dest. Chrg: $420120
Invoice of base, options, and dest chrg: $35320

Dealers can push money around among 3 locations to increase their profit...
1) Price of vehicle
2) Trade-in value
3) APR

Trade-in is the one the dealers like the most because it can be subjective...so if everyone uses edmunds and kbb to normalize out the subjective one then there is only two place money can be pushed around AND it's easier to understand how well one does when purchasing a vehicle. I have been doing this for every vehicle I buy so I'm getting a good understanding how low I can get under invoice for american and foreign.

Default 2013 Ram 1500,Laramie, Quad Cab,4x4,5.7Hemi and 8spd

I just completed a deal on a 2013 1500 laramie Quad Cab,4x4.With all the options the msrp was 56900.00. I traded my 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie quad cab diesel and 14500+fees and taxes. Did not get the 4 corner air suspension or ram box. This was a better deal than another dealer wanted on a sport. 2007 has 117000 kms or roughly or 70k miles.I think it is reasonable deal. Any opinions?
