It also could have been the oil switch & your engine hours hitting that magic time when it is no longer breaking in
Better gas mileage is achieved because everything runs smoother too

I always detect a difference after i throw a fresh shot of mobil1 full syn ext perf in my hemi or any other engine I pour it in. lowered idle rpm & easier/ smoother acceleration. I used ams & liked it just the same but too pricey for my shallow pockets. But back to oil. Any one here rolling w/ 5W 30 in their ram 1500???? I was thinking after reading this extremely long article on how it is better for the longevity of the motor. I plan on keeping my ram till it don't roll no more... So any one rocking 5w 30 & if so good/ bad what's the deal????

I read you're not supposed to use 5W30 because of the MDS. It's too thick or something and is bad for it. Amsoil isn't much more expensive than any other synthetic if you order it with others and split the shipping costs. I'm a dealer so I get it cheaper.

Hey js. I appreciate the info. Many have said a- the 5.7 hemi in the 2500 & the 1500 are identical as far as internals go. But one lacks the computer ability to shut down cylinders. So one begs to ask the question why do they rock the 5w 30 in the bigger capacity truck & not the other. I get it but I believe it's more than just the mds but more so because of the fuel mileage claims would be off.
People in europe practically don't even have 5w 20 weight oil. They all use 5w 30 & say their rams run fine on it & the mds isn't effected. So I just was trying to find some folks who run it over here & how their hemis behave????
