Default Warranty void???

I just drove my new 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 home today.

I opted for the 7 year/100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I'm already itching to put a level kit and throw a little bigger tires under her, but I'm worried about voiding the warranty. Anyone have any experience with this? Would it or wouldn't it void the warranty?

Thanks!!

In my experience, tires should not matter. I mean if you put big ones on that rub, and then cause damage, then yeah, that's an issue. As for the lift, dealers in Alberta sell new trucks with lifts already installed. Apparently certain kits you buy say they wont void warranty, however the dealer could tell you different. Just make a few calls to the service depts and ask their opinion. But out here, I see tons of people doin it so must be ok to some standard!

I wouldn't think the tires would matter. I'm more worried about the level kit. Haha

Thanks for the insight.

There isn't any one mod that you can do that will void your entire warranty on your truck. I forget exactly what the wording in the warranty manual is, but it's essentially that if you put aftermarket parts on they won't be covered by warranty (obviously). Now that being said if you put an aftermarket part on that causes premature failure of another part your dealership probably won't cover that (such as balljoints, or CV shafts when doing a leveling kit).

So I say go ahead and do the leveling kit. 75% of the people on this forum have modified their suspension in one way or another and I haven't seen any threads with people saying they've had problems with their dealership on warranty work because of it. But like another poster said, it's never a bad idea to give your service department a call and see what they have to say about it.
