Default 2012 Ram 1500 Leveling kit?

Hi, I'm new here. I just bought a new 2012 Ram 1500 4wd Silver Express Crew cab last winter and I'm looking at different set-ups for that off-road look. Does anyone know if you level them with 2.5 in, what can you go for size on tires? I'm looking for that full wheel well, off-road look. I've been thinking leveling kit, small black fender flares, black rims, and 35 or whatever tire size I can do without lifting. I'm not sure if I'll do it right away and do the leveling kit and wheels and tires, or wait until I run these tires down. Can I sell the stock wheels and tires and get anything for them to make it worth taking them off early? Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated! Pictures of your set up would be awesome too! Thanks

are you 2wd or 4wd?

if you are 4wd get bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks. i think you can get them for around $180 a pair and are the preferred way to level over spacers.

If you are on a budget, I've heard good things about hell bent steel (HBS) 2.5" leveling kit for around $80. But i recommend the bilsteins.

Once leveled. You can fit a 35x12.5 tire with a 0mm offset wheel. if you want the "offroad" look, I'd get a -12mm, your wheels will stick out some and looks good, esp with fender flares you want that negative offset.

You could probably sell your pretty new wheels/tires for around $1000 and make up for the wheels/tires purchase which will run you between $1600-upwards of $2000 depending on brand/price of the wheels and tires.

You can get rims that are almost $260/each and tires that are almost $400/each or you can budget and do what i did. I got some cheap offroad black wheels for $125/each and some federal couragia M/T tires for $260/each. The federals aren't very popular, prob cuz of the low price but I love them. if you drop to a 17" diameter tire/wheel you can save a lot of money. i saved almost $1000 dropping from 20-17"

I dont have a 4th gen ram but I have pics of my leveled with bilsteins 2007.
17x8.5" wheels with 35x12.5x17 federals

I agree with gonefishing.... Get the billstein shocks instead of the spacers for less than $200, especially if you actually plan on doing any offroading at all. You could also go with the Rancho Quicklift loaded, which include front coils, ready to install... cost about $360 for the pair.

There are a bunch of guys running 35x12.5 tires on just levelling kits. I would go one size down to a 305 70r17 so you don't have to worry about any rubbing or looking too stuffed. Thats guessing that you will go with 17 wheels for the offroad look.

For your stock wheels and tires, you'll get about $800 and have to be patient. Gonefishing was right on with the new wheel tire setup prices.

Question here....With the Bilstein's can you adjust them anytime u want? for example...monday would be a 2" lift day...and tuesday can be a 3.5" lift day? just by the turn of your wrist? does it just do the front? if so what kind of kit would you need for the rear? because I head with a 2.5 lift that the ass end sits lower then the front. need to know these things, I ordered HBS 2" spacers on monday and would like to know before I install them

once installed, the bilsteins cannot be adjusted. u would have to completely disassemble. which is why u want to make sure u put then at the desired setting the first time and triple check both sides are the same because you'll hate yourself if you have to uninstall/reinstall. I think at first 2.5" would look like it's sitting a tad high but it'll settle (don't ask me what settles, it just seems to happen) and you'll be level. worst case u had a spacer block to the rear to bring the rear up.
