So I spoke to the mechanic and sure enough, they had misspoke. The weld is rotted. Im not happy, as I took the truck back to the original dealer about this exact issue twice, figuring there was a simple mistake the first time. Now its pretty obvious that they dont know what they are doing. I will be on the phone with the dealership manager this week.

Now, hopefully the dealer can get the knocking taken care of. I didnt get a call this afternoon to come and get it, so I figure they will call me tomorrow or they found the issue.

Just so you're aware, the dealership doesn't have to take any responsibility since it's an aftermarket modification that has caused the failure. If they do stand by you then you've got a good dealership, but they don't HAVE to cover anything, even if they sold it to you in that condition. If it was a safety concern then you'd have a leg to stand on, but it's not. I hope they do right by you though.

Thats horse you know what. Now Ill be looking at a hefty bill for a replacement exhaust.

I have owned nothing but Chrysler products since 2001, and one thing that I have never had problems with has been rotted exhausts. My last one had 175k on it when I sold it and the exhaust was fine. I am not happy about this, especially since the truck has 39k on it and its just out of the bumper to bumper warranty.

The dealer also cant find the manifold leak, but the truck has an incessant ticking noise, sounds like a damn diesel running. If these kind of issues keep happening, I dont think Ill have this truck for very long.

your not alone with the engine ticking, I posted on dodgeforum, and apparently a bunch of us have it, a broken exhaust manifold bolt. I havent had the time to mess with it. sounds an awful lot like a lifter in need of adjustment

I didnt buy it from a Dodge dealer, and the dealer I am speaking about did the work on it last. They already replaced one rotted out extension, then they readjusted it because the ding dong mounted the pipe so that the passenger side one was 2" shorter than the drivers side. Now its leaking again. Ill see what they will do about it. As long as they can fix the leak again and get it to last long enough so I can just save enough up for a cat back stainless system, Ill be happy. Im tired of dealing with it lol.

They checked it and no broken studs or leaks. The guy said its a normal noise.

Well, the drivers side pipe snapped on the way home today. I stopped by the dealer I bought it from, as I had complained about the almost rotted through pipe back in November. They guy told me he would charge me to fix it. I told him he just lost a customer forever because he refused to replace a $20 piece of exaust pipe. He told me to basically go pound sand and that I wasnt the first person to tell him that. Wow, nice customer service.

I emailed the owner of the dealership and told him how the service manager treated me. He asked me to give him a call tomorrow and he will gladly fix the pipe for me. At least it wont be dangling until I can fix it the right way.
