Default Will 2013 dash with 8" display fit 2012?

I'm really disappointed with my 430 (no nav) Alpine. I'm thinking about replacing it with an Alpine INE-Z928HD. Crutchfield is saying it will not fit. It is considerably bigger overall. I'm wondering if I can purchase the dash bezel from a 2013 and if it will fit my 2012? Sure would make my day if something went easy.

What are you disappointed with? If it is the sound then some new dash speakers and a sub will wake it up and make it sound a lot better.

I've done the speaker upgrade. Infinity Kappa's dash and doors. Disconnected the center speaker. Stock sub. Not enough volume for me. I want to add an amp a new sub and box. Thought about a processor, but thinking I want Nav now too. I'll never watch a DVD in it and therefore see little need for a surround system. I'm figuring if I am going to upgrade to get the biggest screen I can as my eyes are getting older. I'm hoping I can unsnap my dash, take the switches off and put them on a larger radio opening 2013 and snap it back in place. I want to do the install myself. There's plenty of info on the web for me to feel comfortable doing it. If I have to take it to a pro to get it dialed in, I save the install labor$$$. trying to get all my duckies lined up before I lay out the moolah $$$.

Good luck. I am interested to know the results if you can make the dash work. It looks like the outside dimensions have remained the same on the radio bezel but I doubt it would clip in. Even if it did nothing would line up (controls, buttons, etc) with the exception of maybe the vents. You would be better off modifying your 2012 bezel to suit your needs. I have seen other members do this.

I personally would recommend trying a new amp, sub and box and us the PAC SOEM-T line output converter. The LOC is only $15 so if you still don't like it and get an aftermarket HU you are only out $15.

I'm thinking the only thing that's changed is the opening is larger for the radio??? What am I missing???? Did anything else move around to accommodate making the opening larger? Did they move the sheetmetal around behind the bezel? That's why I'm asking will this bezel change work? Thinking I may need to test drive a 2013...hmmm?

The entire radio / HVAC controls have changed in the bezel. Take a look on your favourite dealer website that shows actual pictures of the Rams. You can checkout www(dot)provincialchrysler(dot)com if you want. They have 2012 and 2013s with actual pictures. You will see the drastic change in the bezel.

You could probably have an audio shop modify the factory bezel to fit the Alpine. there is alot of unused space on the bezel. I squeezed 9.6" in my dash.

It is not very hard at all to make the 2012 Ram dash & bezel into a Double Din unit
the stock opening is 1 1/2 Din
it just needs to be opened up a bit

many people are modifying the 2009 - 2012 Rams to fit a double din head unit

Thanks Man! That's the kinda info I was looking for! Good news.

I was looking for the easiest way and now I know. I followed up and sure enough they changed the bezels on the 2013's enough that they wouldn't work. I started looking at mine closer and was really concerned that if the screen was larger inproportionately up, there wasn't gonna be much room. Glad to know it's been done.

I appreciate everyones comments more than you all know.

You can't put a 13 radio in a twelve. The radio in the 13 is tied into truck functions and all the wiring is different. It is so different that there are no aftermarket kits for the 13 yet.
