Got a good deal on a 07 hemi motor my question is will it work on my 04 ram hemi ???? They both are 3rd gen trucks but I know dodge swaped a few things around anyone know

Just swap in a set of non-MDS lifters and it'll bolt right in place.

I don't see a need to do either of those things. There's no difference mechanically between not hooking it up and having it hooked up and running in 8 cylinder mode.

My thinking is

It will run in 8 cylinder mode all the time because there is nothing in the 2004 Ram electronics to activate the 4 cylinder mode in vehicles with MDS

The first year for MDS in a Ram was 2006
