Good luck with the repair. Read up on how to buff out clearcoat scratches first before you proceed.

I agree with MADDOG, read up on sanding before you do it. Watch those videos I suggested. The man is a pro and I believe he starts sanding with 2000 grit and goes up to 3000. You need to graduate from the college of wetsanding knowledge before proceeding. Good Luck

You should wash and claybar before you sand anyway. Last thing you want is to get a bigger particle of dirt stuck under that sandpaper and scratching it up real bad. Generally speaking if you can catch your fingernail in the scratch then you'll need to sand it down and probably respray the clear. Otherwise you can usually get away with the wash/claybar/compound/polish procedure.

I'll try to post some pics Friday. No real scratches, just very dull and a little rough. Thanks for all the input!!

Spent a couple of hours working on the roof today. Washed with dish soap to remove the wax that was on it. Then used MacGuire's Clay Bar with the detailing spray. Followed that up with the cleaning polish that came with the clay bar kit. Followed that with MacGuire's NTX Tech Wax 2.0. Although it was a major improvement, it's to the point of having to be redone. On the upside, I can't wait to do the rest of the truck with this system!!

Wow, that is a significant improvement! Nice job, there, and as was suggested above, a color specific wax might help. I use the Turtle Wax with red pigment on my Jeep, and despite the fact that mine is a little further gone than yours, definitely made a nice difference, and at least it is protected until you can get it redone!

I couldn't find any red wax, and I had a day to work on it. I'll try that next time I wax. Can you put the paste over the red wax? I really like the way the Tech 2.0 made the finish pop.
