Default 2012 Ram Stereo Upgrade

Just wondering if anyone has done a stereo upgrade on their 2012 Rams. I wanna replace the speakers for sure and add an amp maybe 4 channel to run them but not sure what to do with the factory Alpine sub. I don't wanna steel any room or loose anything to put this amp in. So I'm looking for suggestions to get some true sound with better bass.

I have replaced the 2 dash speakers and installed a 250W RMS amp to power the OEM sub and it sounds much better. The sub still isn't the greatest but it is much better than stock and good enough considering you keep the stock setup under the seat. The front dash speakers make a big difference. Pick up a nice set of 2 way 2ohm speakers and you won't be sorry. You will be amazed at the difference. I also removed the "centre" speaker for more stereo separation and that made a big difference as well.

You can buy prefab sub boxes to go under the rear seat(s) but they require you to remove the storage lids and some of them cover up the middle cup holders. Not really worth it IMHO unless you go really big and want huge bass.

Also, post this in the audio/video sub forum and you will get a lot more replies.

As far as a better sub goes, JL audio makes a Stealthbox for these trucks. It mounts in the same spot as the factory sub but comes up higher towards the seat. That along with a mono block amp for the sub would be a big improvement. As far as speakers go I would just change them to some good quality ones before getting a better amp for them.

I have replaced all and added subs. 3 jl zr650csi component sets on doors, 2 jl 12w6v3 subs in custom made box under back seats, 2 jl hd 600/4 amps, 1 jl hd 1200/1 amp. Lots of sound deadening, Kenwood Excelon dnx 890hd. Absolute bliss.
