Default Tow Mode

Can Cruise Control be used in Tow mode?

I would use it whenever possible until you were into some serious hills or very windy days type thing.

I'll be taking a fishing trip to Gaston soon and I plan on just leaving my truck in overdrive and let it do it's own thing.
I will be pulling a bass boat and supplies that may total 2500-2800 lbs.
I never used tow mode in my Ranger and I know the Hemi would not need to use it.

I look at it this way...If it won't tow my bass boat without tow mode I will be ashamed to admit it after using the little Ranger to tow the boat from Florida to Kentucky with no problems.

You touch on a question I have wondering about. What is the difference on hills, between leaving it in full automatic and manually selecting the appropriate gear? I ask because, when in full automatic would it not select the appropriate gear?

In overdrive, I think the main worry is your transmission shifting to frequently while towing. Overheats and wares the tranny.

That first response IS funny...lol, if your towing in "tow haul" mode, it modifies your shift pattern, holds a higher RPM, in a sense firms up your shifts, all better for the transmission, aids in keeping your transmission temp in check.
