No such thing as an electric supercharger, it's just an electric motor hooked to a fan. Don't even bother with it. Otherwise, superchargers don't tend to be cheap, even used.

You can build your own for less than purchased ones, but you need to have a good handle on what's required plus be able to do the mock ups yourself. For your generation the options are limited to the procharger for $5K. There was the GSM kits that used a Paxton head unit, but GSM has disappeared after they destroyed many engines.

Being an '06, you can easily do a cam, ported heads (or move up to Eagle heads), torque converter, and valve body for less than the cost of a supercharger. Hell, you could even get a little nitrous on there for when you want a kick in the ass and still pay less. I know my old truck cost about $4k in parts for my performance and on the bottle I was pulling away from a guy running 7psi on a just a procharger.

I found a thread where a guy installed a fourth gen Magnacharger kit on an 07. Sounds like there was a lot of modding and part swapping involved to get the kit to fit but he eventually did. He never gave a total but the kit alone is over $6k. Wouldn't surprise me if he had over $8k in it by the time he was done. Came away with 420hp/406tq at 8.5 pounds of boost. There was a couple month gap in posts on his thread after the install and then his next post said his transmission was fried. Big surprise there, lol. So he proceeded to put a new, beefy (had to be expensive transmission) in it and then the next posts are of him climbing crap out in the woods and beating the truck to shit. Hey, it's his money but some people....

Turbo is an option as well, but again they aren't cheap. Performance doesn't come cheap. Comp cams cam is around 400, ported heads and you are looking at a couple grand pretty easy. Even a full exhaust system with stainless long tube headers can set you back a couple of grand. I would love to turbo my Ram, but all the expense keeps it out of my range for now.

I sure hope that was 420hp at the wheels. A cam swap with tune can give around 400hp at the crank.

GSM went out of business several years ago, they fried several motors along the way too. The only bolt-on kit out there for the 3rd gen Ram is the Prochrager, and you're paying for it.
