Default Steering Wheel Off Center

I drive a 2008 Dodge Ram, standard cab.
I'd noticed a gap between the steering column and the right hand side of the dash looked a little large.
As I looked closer I noticed the steering column is tight up against the left hand side?
I then noticed that the steering column isn't centered between the instrument dials either.

The more I looked, the more I noticed that the steering wheel is shifted to the left a good 1/2" to 3/4" off-center as I'm sitting looking at it.
The more I look at it as I drive the more aggravated I get.
Has anyone have this issue and know how to fix it?

It could be as simple as when you or anybody getting into the truck and useing wheel for leverage could have bent the coller under dash that holds collem into place. Or if truck was bought used there was front end damage on left side.

my 1986 feels and looks "off center" to my chest when setting in the seat where I am comphy. If I leaned on the door alittle it would line up with me. I was looking at it the other day and my gaps look to be the same. Column don't look bent......

Would worn mechanical parts have anything to do with it ?

anyone know how to remove the plastic panel from underneath the steering column without breaking it? I want to see if there is any way to move the column over to the right about an inch.
