I know this is an ancient thread, but I keep my spare fob (2010 truck) in the glove box and hide a door key on the outside of the truck. If I lose the fob, I can still unlock the door and use the spare fob to start the truck. I've done this with a few trucks I've owned over the years and used the hidden key exactly once, but it was in a pounding rainstorm at night on a weekend. Very happy I had it!!

I don't have a Ram truck yet. Hope to be buying my first one soon (TBD if it will be a '13 or '14).

Do Ram trucks have something similar to GM's OnStar? If so wouldn't that negate the need to hide a key? Once I locked my keys in the car in a bad section of Philadelphia on a weekend. Called OnStar and they sent a signal to the car and unlocked it. I've been a fan ever since. I would have thought Ram has something similar.

They have something to that effect with an APP for your phone but it isn't any good yet. They will have to get this new Uconnect system running and get all the bugs out. Hopefully it will be a gem by 2014.

If the Uconnect system is working properly am I correct in that it is similar to OnStar? That it could open doors remotely if they were locked.?

Default UConnect Works for me

I have a 2013 with uconnect app on my iphone. I can unlock and lock the truck, remote start and stop, plus sound alarm all from my phone. On the off chance the phone is in the truck itself, then I can use any computer to access my account and do the same thing. If I have no computer access then I have to get to a phone and call someone with access to a computer, give them my login info and they can perform the same operations for me from the computer. Overall a good system to have.

I dont have a problem with my uConnect APP on my phone. Tried it several times to lock and unlock the truck..worked everytime.
It does take several mins however...but just knowing if I ever lock my keys in the truck the APP would work.
