Default 2008 CV Axle

I have tried searching all day in between hammering on the cv axle. I am trying to do the ball joints on the passanger side. I have everything loose and ready to go except the axle frozen into the hub! For the hell of it I tried the inner end and that wont budge either. Is there anything different with the 2008 or is it the same as the rest of the years- hammer and pry bar?

I noticed in a video that older models dont have the four bolt cover like mine on the axle housing......... do I need to remove that to get to any type of pin?

I got the axle out of the hub by cutting the axle off and then with the whole knuckle out I used a 10lb sledge to beat the piss out of it. I removed the axle from the differential and the axle didnt separate from the stub shaft so that came out along with the axle leaving the gears inside. The c clip came out on the axle. Now my new questions are, if I actually get some help on here-
Do I try and get the axle shaft apart from the cv axle?
Do I buy a new shaft to go into the new cv axle?
When all the axle work is down , how does thing go back in with that c-clip?

I hate to bring up an old post but I have this same problem with the stub axle coming out with the cv axle, does anybody know how I go about getting it back together? I kinda need my truck back on the road by sunday so any help is appreciated.

This pretty much sums it up. I just did an axle on my truck 3 weeks ago and after 3 hours of hitting it with a 16lbs hammer, I finally grabbed my saws-all and chopped it out. It then just popped out. Both my inner and outer CV joints were buggered real bad though, so I think that played a factor into them being so hard to get out because the new one slid right into place no problem. Oh and you can just buy a new stub axle and you should be able to slide it back in the way it came out and be good to go.
